Project Engineer

The Project Engineer provides technical and engineering support for electrical construction projects from project initiation through completion. This role is responsible for coordinating technical activities, supporting project planning and execution, maintaining quality standards, and promoting safe work practices to help ensure project accuracy, compliance, and successful outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Engineering Support  

  • Analyze and interpret construction drawings to ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements. 
  • Assist with reviewing plans, specifications, and contract documents to identify key project requirements and areas requiring ongoing attention. 
  • Support the preparation and maintenance of project checklists related to contractual obligations and deliverables. 
  • Collaborate with project teams by providing input on cost estimates, project schedules, and overall planning activities. 

Project Documentation & Execution

  • Prepare statements of work, submittals, and change management documentation to support project execution and communication. 
  • Conduct inspections of equipment, materials, workmanship, and completed construction to verify compliance with project specifications and quality standards. 
  • Maintain accurate project records to track progress, document changes, and support compliance requirements. 
  • Assist in monitoring project activities to ensure alignment with approved plans and specifications. 

Safety Management & Compliance

  • Promote a culture of safety by supporting compliance with applicable safety regulations, standards, and best practices. 
  • Monitor ongoing construction activities to verify adherence to established safety procedures. 
  • Ensure materials, equipment, and work methods comply with project and safety requirements. 
  • Support continuous awareness and accountability regarding safety performance across project activities. 

Industry Representation & Relationship Building

  • Serve as a company ambassador by representing organizational values and expertise within the electrical contracting industry. 
  • Maintain professional, ethical, and respectful relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Build and strengthen relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry contacts. 
  • Support the company’s reputation as a trusted and reliable partner in the
    electrical contracting sector.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong ability to perform due diligence and conduct project risk assessments. 
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across project teams and stakeholders. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information to audiences with varying levels of expertise. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to integrity, ethics, and professional conduct. 
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently to construction project sites. 

Demonstrated Accomplishments  

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, BlueBeam, and Accubid. 
  • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical construction documents. 
  • Understanding of electrical construction within large-scale commercial environments. 
  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers while remaining aware of industry and market trends. 
  • Thorough knowledge and application of safety standards within electrical construction. 
  • Ability to support project quality, documentation, and technical compliance throughout the project lifecycle. 

Education & Experience

  • General construction experience preferred. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education, skills, and training preferred. 
  • Equivalent combinations of relevant education, training, and applied experience will be considered.  

 Working Conditions:

The majority of the time you will work on construction job sites. When on construction job sites you will encounter typical construction conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching, and shoring, sometimes in a confined space. You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.

Salary Range:
$68,000 - $92,000
