SHIPFITTER

You will serve as a Shipfitter in the PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. The location for this position is Garden Island, Australia ***See Additional Information section below for details***


  • You will lay out, fabricate, assemble and install various metal structure assemblies, structures and pieces of ships and other vessels.
  • You will work from blueprints and mold loft templates to lay out sheet, deck and bulkhead plates, I-beams, channel bars and various other structural shapes and various foundation structures and parts.
  • You will locate and make out reference lines and points, such as water lines, center lines, buttock lines and frame lines.
  • You will install and fit parts on board ships as well as removing and repairing damaged parts of ship's structure.
  • You will cut, fit, assemble and install various structural assemblies, particularly submarine sails, using fiberglass plates, and basic shipfitting trade techniques.
  • You will prepare any required mold templates which are not supplied by the mold loft.
