Job Summary and Qualifications

A Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) evaluates and treats patients with communication, cognitive, and swallowing impairments. Responsibilities include performing patient assessments, creating custom care plans, documenting clinical progress, and educating families.  

Core Responsibilities 

• Evaluate patients: Assess speech, language, cognitive communication, and swallowing functions using standardized tests and clinical tools  

• Design treatment plans: Build and adjust individualized therapy goals to maximize patient safety and independence 

• Manage documentation: Record accurate daily notes, treatment charges, progress updates, and discharge summaries in a timely manner 

• Collaborate closely: Work alongside physicians, nurses, and rehab staff to coordinate safe patient transitions 

• Educate families: Provide guidance and safety strategies to patients and caregivers regarding ongoing communication or swallowing needs 

Key Qualifications 

• Education: Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program 

• Experience: One year of work experience strongly preferred 

• Licensure: Active state license to practice speech-language pathology. 

• Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA or eligibility for a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY). 

• Life Support: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire
