Nuclear Chemical Operator
Responsible for carrying out assignments in many different areas covering a wide variety of products and processes, in operating diversified equipment, in performing a sequence of complex operations. Work with a minimum of supervision and take the lead in performing work including troubleshooting, indoctrination of new employees, emergency procedures, and similar items. May direct and train others.
WORKING LEADER CLASIFICATION
Responsible for taking the lead and providing direction to other workers in the group while
performing the same duties as performed by the work group. Duties to include instructing
members of the group as well as doing specific assigned duties such as keeping records,
controlling process or projects in a manner outlined by the management, this includes
utilizing appropriate safety precautions at all times including good housekeeping. Is
responsible for functionally directing the work in the group.
NUCLEAR CHEMICAL OPERATOR – JOURNEYMAN

complex operations, in accordance with operational procedures. May direct and train
others.
OPERATOR TRAINEE
Operate equipment and perform a variety of functions following standard operating
procedures. Perform and assist on complex operation under direction.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Have or be able to obtain a DOE Level "L" Security Clearance.
This position is part of the Workforce Substance Abuse/Testing Designated Position (WSAP/TDP) as defined under 10 CFR 707.7 and subject to unannounced random testing.
Desired Qualifications:
Qualified Journeyman.
This work is at a DOE Hazard Category 2 non-reactor nuclear facility. Perform surveillance for Technical Safety Requirements and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) compliance for the approximately 11,000 waste containers we have in storage, and our inactive burial grounds as well as the active, permitted, mixed waste burial trenches and the US Navy reactor compartment disposal trench. Support and participate alongside a dedicated crew in Low Level, TRU, and mixed waste management activities. Support both readiness activities and the upcoming full shipping operations as the Central Waste Complex prepares to resume shipping TRU waste to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
